Meghalaya: Ideating Workshop held in Shillong
SHILLONG: A Two-Day Ideating Workshop on Appropriate and Sustainable Technology for Rural Areas was held here today at the State Convention Centre, Shillong. The workshop was organized by the State Institute of Rural Development (SIRD), Meghalaya.
Speaking at the inaugural function, K. N. Kumar, Principal Secretary, Community and Rural Development (C&RD), Government of Meghalaya highlighted the importance of organizing such workshops. "Northeast is a different ball game, there is potential scope and space for innovations", he said.
He further added that the availability of resources and the induction of latest technologies can be utilized for greater good of the people in the rural areas. He also said that no known technology can be fully utilized unless it is developed at par with the current generation and that such technologies should be grounded and rendered fully functional whereby developmental and innovative ideas can be brought not only for the State of Meghalaya but for the whole of Northeastern States.
It is worth mentioning that the aim of the Workshop is to help establish the Meghalaya State Rural Technology and Livelihood Promotion Centre (MSRTLPC) at Nongbah Myrdon.
The inaugural session was followed by a series of sessions wherein various topics such as Case for Establishing a Rural Technology Centre in Meghalaya, The conceptualization of a Rural Technology Park etc. were discussed. Thereafter the second session saw the Presentation by the Technology Developers.
Besides other dignitaries, Akash Deep, Director, C&RD, I. R. Sangma, Joint Secretary, C&RD, T. Lyngwa, Director, SIRD were among others who are present at the workshop.
