A total number of 16 MDCs of the Khasi Hills Democratic Alliance (KHDA) including the protem chairman attended the special session. All the 17 MDCs of the KHDA including Teilinia Thangkhiew attended the special session.

While addressing the House on his election as the CEM, Shylla said that the architect of the whole crisis in the KHADC is none other than former CEM, PN Syiem.

It may be mentioned that the election to the highest post in the KHADC was postponed on Thursday following the resignation of LG Nongsiej as the Chairman of the council at the last minute and the session could not be conducted due to the absence of a Deputy Chairman. The government had to appoint Mylliem MDC, Teilinia Thangkhiew as the protem chairman to preside over the session in the house today.

Thangkhiew announced the election of Shylla as the CEM in the floor of the house today.

In the House of 29, KHDA has 17 MDCs while the PDA including the Congress has 12 MDCs.
