Meghalaya: FIR lodged against PHE Official for demanding bribe
SHILLONG: A government official of Meghalaya has come under scanner for allegedly bribing the contractors for clearance of their bills, the same of which has caught the attention of the CID who immediately sought for an FIR to be filed against the erring officer.
The same was unearthed after the CID/ACB Meghalaya submitted its report to the Finance Department, directing the latter to file an FIR against Daniel N Sangma, an Account Officer of the PHE department serving in South Garo Hills.
According to the Police, Sangma who works at Office of Executive Engineer, Water Resources Division, PHE, Baghmara (SGH) was alleged of demanding cash from contractors for clearing their bills.
On December 9, the complaint was lodged by J Wanswet, Dy. Secretary, Finance (Establishment) Dept., Meghalaya based on a report submitted by CID.
