Meghalaya | Expulsion of 3 girls from Garo Hills school: NGOs deny involvement

Tura: Two months after three children were expelled from a school in North Garo Hills,  Dainadubi NGOs in North Garo Hills (NGH), who were under scanner over their roles in the expulsion of these three girl students from the Depa Secondary School in the area, have stated that they had no role in the decision taken.

In a release today, the NGOs, including the AAYF, GSU, PJAC among others today clarified that they had no hand in the expulsion of the 3 students.

The NGOs also stated that they had tried, not once but many times to speak to the headmaster on the matter and seek a reversal of the expulsion.

The clarification comes after the Achik Indigenous Justice Initiative Forum learnt of the expulsion of the 3 girls and sought justice for them. Taking a strong note on the matter, the DCPO sought an inquiry to be done by the District School Education Officer.

The matter has taken the entire education community by storm with many demanding exemplary punishment against those responsible for the expulsion of the children. It has also led to many claims and counter claims on who exactly was responsible for the expulsion of the 3 students.
