SHILLONG, September 11, 2017: Former minister and congress legislator AL Hek has expressed his readiness to meet BJP national president Amit Shah, if he is called upon to do so.
The statement of the Pynthorumkhrah Congress legislator came at a time when rumours of him joining the Saffron party ahead of the 2018 Assembly Polls is still doing its round.
"I am not going to meet the BJP national president without an official invitation from the party," Hek said over telephone here on Monday.
Earlier, it was reported that as many seven sitting MLAs from different political parties including Hek would meet Shah when he visit Shillong later this month. Shah is scheduled to visit Shillong for a day-long visit on September 28.
Earlier, BJP State president, Shibun Lyngdoh had said that the seven MLAs would meet the BJP national president before they decide on their future course of action.
It may be mentioned that the two independent MLAs-Justine Dkhar and Robinus Syngkon- had pledged to join the BJP recently.
When asked if he is going to join the BJP if there is an offer, the Pynthorumkhrah Congress legislator said " Let us see if there is any such offer."
"I will not be able to take the decision on my own. I would have to consult my leaders in the constituency before taking such a major decision," Hek further added.
