Meghalaya CM presents justification for unbloomed cherry blossoms to disappointed tourists!

Shillong, November 09, 2017: Amidst much hype,  the Cherry Blossom festival in Shillong kickstarted on November 8 but it left many people disappointed as the cherry blossoms do not seem to be in a hurry to bloom as yet. Questions were raised by many as to why was the festival not postponed and why was such misinformation spread about the fest.

However,  presenting a justification on this,  Chief Minister, Dr Mukul Sangma said that the state government had fixed the Cherry Blossom Festival in advance as normally this is the time that the Cherry Blossoms bloom in this part of the world.

"The whole mantra is to attract the tourist to visit the State and see the budding cherry blossom. We would want them to come again when it blooms," Dr Mukul said told newsmen here on Thursday.

He said that the fact they would like to tell the world that that the cherry blossom in the State blooms at a time where in other parts of the world it does not bloom.

The Chief Minister said that there are some places that the Cherry Blossom is blooming adding that this will definitely encourage the visitors to revisit the State.
