The Congress MLAs from Assam have asked Meghalaya Government to give safe passage to the migrants labourers who are working in and around East Khasi Hills district.
The Congress MLAs from Assam led by Boko legislator, Nadita Das had wanted to meet Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma.
With the unavailability of the Chief Minister, the delegation of Congress MLAs met Home Minister, Lahkmen Rymbui and Leader of Opposition, Dr Mukul Sangma on Thursday evening.
The other Congress MLAs who were part of the delegation include Rupjyoti Kurmi and Kamalakhya Dey Purkayastha.
Speaking to reporters, Das said that they have been informed that there are 1000 of migrant labourers from Assam are stuck in Shella under Sohra Civil Sub Division and other parts of East Khasi Hills.
