Shillong | January 28, 2018

Weeks after a suspected pre-poll violence rocked Mawsynram, the assailants involved in stabbing Kynpham Syiem, elder brother of KHADC CEM, PN Syiem multiple times, have finally came out of hiding and surrendered before the police on Friday night.

According to the SP of East Khasi Hills Davis Marak, the duo identified as Kyllang Thongni and Pusterwell Disiar  surrendered before the Mawsynram police on Friday evening.

When asked about tg

he motive behind the attack, Marak said that the police are still interrogating the duo to gather more inputs.

The duo were suspected to have sought shelter in Bangladesh to avoid arrest before they came out of hiding, though police are yet to ascertain the facts.

It may be recalled that Kynpham was stabbed by assailants at Dangar, a border area in Mawsynram constituency last week.

It may me noted that earlier, according to the police, three persons were behind the attack and as per the Meghalaya police website it had named Kyllang Thongni as the one who stabbed Syiem with a sharp weapon. However, the relatives of Kynpham N. Syiem claimed that two people were involve in the attack.

Earlier, the police had already registered a case under Section 307 of IPC (attempt to murder), Section 326 of IPC (Voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means) and Section 34 IPC (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention).
