Meghalaya: 5 persons, 4 from Bihar, 1 from Manipur held near Shillong with drugs

In continuation of the crackdown on the drug syndicates by the East Khasi Hills police, the law enforcers recently apprehended four persons hailing from Bihar following the recovery of ganja-filled bags from an ASTC Night Super coming from Tripura, at Umphyrnai village, located few kilometers away from Shillong.

East Khasi Hills SP, Davis NR Marak informed that on August 17 at around 2.30 am, while personnel of the Madanriting Police Station and ANTF were conducting vehicle checking of one ASTC night super coming from Tripura at Umphyrnai, they recovered 51. 155 kg of suspected ganja from the bags of Anush Kumar, Anarik Paswan and two juveniles.

Accordingly all the our persons were arrested under appropriate section of law under NDPS act and forwarded to the court while two juveniles were forwarded to Juvenile Court.

Again on August 19, at around 2 am while checking of one night super coming from Tripura, was conducted at Umphyrnai, police detected 19,800 WY (World of Yours) banned contraband from one the passengers identified as Yumnam Sanahal Singh of Manipur.

The band contraband was seized and the said person was arrested under appropriate section of law under NDPS Act, said Marak.
