UNLF cadre arrested in Manipur

IMPHAL

Acting on intelligence report, security forces of the Assam Rifles along with a team of Bishnupur police launched a search operation and apprehended a self-styled lance corporal of the proscribed group UNLF near Malom Bazaar in Imphal west on Monday.

The apprehended insurgent has been identified as Thongam Nanao alias Pariton and is said to be involved in extortion activities in Imphal valley on behalf of the proscribed UNLF.

The apprehended person has been handed over to Nambol Police station for further investigation.
