Tributes pour in from all quarters for Tarun Gogoi in Manipur

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh has condoled the sudden demise of Tarun Gogoi, a veteran politician and the former Chief Minister of Assam.

Chief Minister Biren Singh tweeted, “Deeply painful to hear about the tragic demise of ex-CM of Assam, Tarun Gogoi ji. It is a great loss to the people of NE and (the) nation as a whole. May God give, family and friends grieving the immeasurable loss they suffered, the strength to overcome the pain.”

In his condolence message, Singh said, “The country, especially the North-East region, has lost a great public leader whose works, ideas and philosophy had inspired many politicians and public leaders of the North-East region to work for the overall development of the region.”

Also, Gogoi’s Congress counterpart and fellow member of the Congress Working Committee, former Manipur Deputy Chief Minister G. Gaikhangam have said, “We have lost a father- figure. The passing away of our stalwart, Shri Tarun Gogoi ji, is a huge loss for the people of NE. He shall always be remembered as a leader who united his people and fought for their development. My deepest condolences to his family and followers”.

Manipur Congress Spokesperson, Ningombam Bupenda Meitei, also said, “His passing away has left an irreparable void in the political space of our country. His love and pride in the indigenous people, history, culture and literature of our North East India will be forever penned in golden ink.”
