Three suspected cadres of NSCN (IM) injured in gun battle in Manipur

IMPHAL:

Three suspected cadres of the National Socialist Council of Nagaland - Isak-Muivah (NSCN-IM) were injured in a gun battle with security forces near Chingmei Kabui (Pungsanmei) in Tamenglong district of Manipur on Wednesday.

According to a confirmed source, a column of 29 Assam Rifles had launched an operation at around 5.30 am on November 18 against suspected NSCN (IM) cadres in the area.

"An exchanged of fire took place near Chingmei Kabui (Pungsanmei) about 12kms south from Khoupum Police Station. As of now, no report of any casualty; (We are) collecting more information," the source said.

It was informed that among the three injured cadres, two are from Manipur and one is from Nagaland.
