IMPHAL:

The Federation of Government College Teachers’ Association (FEGOCTA), Manipur, resumed democratic agitations on Thursday after the state government failed to issue orders regarding the 7th UGC Pay and Regulations, 2018 by January 27.

FEGOCTA had submitted an ultimatum to the Chief Minister and the Education Minister of Manipur to implement the national policy of 7th UGC Pay and Regulations by January 27.

However, the government failed to implement the resolution even though the state cabinet had given its approval on August 6, 2020.

FEGOCTA alleged that the government failed to implement the resolution by the specified date and hence, they have resorted to agitations, including sit-in protests.

Considering the fate of students who have missed classes during the pandemic, the association has decided to exempt the boycott of classes for the time being but reiterated that if the government cannot address their demands, the boycott of classes will continue.
