Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh said that they had set up a surveillance team to monitor COVID-19 cases arising out of the recently held by-polls.

“While many adhered to the SOPs and COVID-19 protocols during the recently concluded by-polls, there were others who didn’t follow,” Singh said.

“Thus, we would send a surveillance team to the constituencies where the voting took place to check for people with symptoms and to get them tested,” he added.

Regarding the COVID-19 management in the state, the Chief Minister on Thursday said that the state had instituted the Covid Death Audit Committee under the Directorate of Health to conduct studies on the nature of all COVID-19 deaths.

Singh also added that there are 2,264 beds for COVID-19 patients and 35 Covid Care Centres in the state.

He also said that the state has 95 ventilators, 400 oxygen concentrated machines including 500 D-type oxygen cylinders.

“There were 4,557 cases of COVID-19 home isolation in Manipur of which 3,529 cases have recovered,” Singh said.

He also stated that he would lay the foundation stone of an RCC bridge at Irang River while inaugurating the bailey bridge next week.
