Six student bodies of Manipur namely the All Manipur Students’ Union (AMSU), Democratic Students’ Alliance of Manipur (DESAM), Students’ Union of Kangleipak (SUK), Kangleipak Students’Association (KSA), Manipur Students’ Federation (MSF) and Apunba Ireipakki Maheiroi Singpanglup (AIMS) have launched a hunger strike against the state government over the failure in not having a policy against the pandemic.
The student groups’ also listed a set of demands which included in setting up a comprehensive COVID-19 state policy, the appointment of a full-time health minister, establishment of a COVID task force and a 500 bedded COVID hospital among others.
The above-said student groups have agitated in the form of a sit-in protest since Monday since the government has not paid heed on their demands, a hunger strike has been launched.
