Prof SS Singha becomes first woman vice-chancellor of Manipur University

IMPHAL:

Professor S. Sanatombi Singha became the first woman Vice-Chancellor of Manipur University. She teaches at the department of Manipuri at the varsity.

Prof Singha took over charge as Vice-Chancellor (in-charge) of Manipur University after Prof Amar Yumnam, who was the VC (in-charge), retired on Superannuation on Sunday.

Prof. S. Sanatombi Singha, being the senior-most Professor of the university, will perform the duties of the Vice-Chancellor (in charge) until she attains the age of 65 years or a new VC assumes office, whichever is earlier, stated an order issued by the registrar of Manipur University.
