PM Modi tweets after BJP sweeps Manipur By-polls 2020

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) swept the by-polls 2020 in Manipur by winning three seats of the four assembly constituency on November 7.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on the win, tweeted, “I thank the people of Manipur for once again reposing faith in the development agenda of the BJP! Congratulations to @BJP4Manipur for the phenomenal wins in the by-polls. These victories will strengthen the State Government under @NBirenSingh Ji and help fulfil people’s aspirations.”

Meanwhile, Congress which contested four seats in the Manipur by-polls draws nil.

In Wangoi assembly constituency in Imphal west district, BJP’s Oinam Lukhoi Singh had a nail-biting fight with his nearest rival, NPP’s Khuraijam Loken Singh. BJP won Wangoi with a margin of barely 257 more votes than NPP.

In Wanging Tentha assembly constituency in Thoubal district, BJP’s Paonam Brojen Singh won by securing 15147 votes while his nearest rival Moirangthem Hemanta Singh of INC could garner 13587 votes.

Saitu (ST) assembly constituency in Kangpokpi district witnessed the win of the BJP candidate Ngamthang Haokip by a huge margin of 12257 more votes than his INC rival Lamtinthang Haokip.

The Singhat (ST) assembly constituency in Churachandpur district, which was also supposed to go for by-polls on November 7, went uncontested after BJP candidate Ginsuanhau won as the rival independent candidate Chinlunthang withdrew his candidature.
