Nobody should misuse freedom of speech and expression, says Manipur CM N Biren Singh

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh, on Wednesday, said that even though Article 19 of the Constitution guarantees Freedom of Speech and Expression to every citizen, nobody should misuse it.

Singh made the statement while speaking as the chief guest during the inauguration of a multipurpose hall at Laipham Khunou Mitong Lampak in Imphal East.

Singh said that Clause 2 of the Article permits the state to impose reasonable restrictions on the exercise of the right, which breaches morality.

“In cases where security and public order is violated, the law will automatically take its course,” Singh added.

Maintaining that discipline is the basic foundation of a society, Singh said that the State Government is actively involved in directing the youths towards the right path.

He also highlighted the problems of drugs in Manipur and said they are taking all necessary measures against the drug menace.
