Manipur’s Rungsung Masakui to be the next High Commissioner of India to Jamaica

IMPHAL | SEPT 14, 2020:

Manipur's R.Masakui, Indian Foreign Service (IFS,2001) from Ukhrul district, who is presently the Ambassador of India to the Republic of Zimbabwe, has been appointed as the next High Commissioner of India to Jamaica.

The press release from the Ministry of External Affairs said that he will be taking up the assignment shortly.

Rungsung Masakui was born in 1967 and joined the IFS in 2001, after completing a Masters degree in English from Delhi University.

He worked in the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) from 1999 until his selection to IFS in 2001.

Rungsung Masakui has served as the Third Secretary and Second Secretary in Jakarta, Indonesia, Under Secretary in United Nations Economic and Social (UNES) New Delhi, Consul in Johannesburg, South Africa, Counselor in Dhaka, Bangladesh and Director of Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi before serving as the Ambassador of India to the Republic of Zimbabwe.
