Manipuri boxer Mary Kom appointed as chairperson of AIBA Champions and Veterans Committee

IMPHAL:

The Board of Directors of the International Boxing Association (AIBA) appointed MC Mary Kom as the chairperson of the AIBA Champions and Veterans Committee on March 1.

Acknowledging the vast contribution made by Kom in the sport of boxing, the committee informed that her expertise would help uplift the combat sport to a new level.

“Kom is a role model, and her appointment will help aspiring boxers to reach the next level through her guidance and support,” the committee stated.

AIBA President, Umar Kremlev, congratulated the 38-year-old boxer on the new role and wished her the very best.
