Manipur: Union Minister inaugurates 'Regional Agri Fair 2020-21'

Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Narendra Singh Tomar on Monday inaugurated the Central Agricultural University (CAU)-Regional Agri Fair 2020-21 through video conferencing at a formal function held at Lamphelpat.

Addressing the gathering as a chief guest, Narendra Singh Tomar said that the Regional Agri Fair would be much helpful to farmers of the Northeast in increasing their production and getting access to new farming technologies.

“The Union Government had been putting in efforts for the welfare of farmer’s community with certain schemes like Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana and Soil Health Card schemes among others,” Tomar said.

The Union Minister also inaugurated various other projects virtually including model fish farm, school building, dispensary, food processing unit and other such infrastructural ventures.

Delivering his presidential speech, N. Biren Singh said, “The Regional Agri Fair would provide opportunities for meaningful interaction, collaboration and knowledge sharing amongst farmers of the Northeastern Region and stressed the need to put more efforts and focus on promoting cultivation and value addition of local products.”
