Manipur to re-open schools for students of classes VI to VII

The Education Department of Manipur, on Thursday, announced that schools will re-open for students of classes six to seven from March 8 onwards.

According to an official notification, schools will be allowed to come up with their system of evaluation for the students in place of the annual examinations.

“Regarding curriculum and the evaluation procedures for elementary education, they should ensure that they adhere to the provisions under Section 29 of the RTE Act 2009,” the notification stated.

“For students of class V and below, they should do the evaluation through home assignments, subject to the provisions under Section 16 of the RTE Act 2009 as amended from time to time," it added.

The notification also stated that the commencement of the 2021-2022 academic session for schools affiliated to the Board of Secondary Education, Manipur (BoSEM) and Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur (CoHSEM) will be from April 5, 2021.

“Examinations for classes X and XII should begin from the 1st week of May 2021,” it stated.

Besides this, students of class V and below will be given a one-time promotion as a special case for the 2020-21 academic session.
