Manipur to push agriculture & horticulture sectors to salvage economy

Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh chaired a meeting on Wednesday, to chart out a composite plan for agriculture, horticulture and allied sectors to salvage the economy of the state.

The CM had emphasized more on the role of agriculture and allied activities to bail out the grim economy. The meeting was attended by the chief secretary, principal secretary, Head of Departments (HODs) and other officials of Manipur.

"We need a serious and composite plan to develop Agriculture and allied sectors in the state to lift the state's economy that goes (went) into decline during the nationwide lockdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic," he said.

Manipur's economy suffered a major blow in the aftermath of the nationwide lockdown imposed to contain the spread of the contagious COVID 19.

Its languishing economy needed a foothold to start again and agriculture and allied activities are reportedly pushed to rejuvenate the economy.
