IMPHAL:

The All Tribal Students’ Union Manipur (ATSUM) has extended its support to the Federation of Government College Teachers' Association (FEGOCTA) over their demand for implementation of the 7th University Grants Commission (UGC) Pay and Regulations 2018.

Expressing disappointment over the failure of the government to implement the new pay scale, the student body said that the UGC 7th Pay and Regulation 2018 is a national policy enjoyed by government college teachers; hence, there should be no hesitation from the government's side to approve it.

Since 2018, the teachers under FEGOCTA have been demanding for the implementation of the same, which is yet to be rolled out.

FEGOCTA agitation over 7th UGC Pay scale

The teachers have now resorted to agitation like the sit-in-protest in most of the government-run colleges to raise the issue once again.

"FEGOCTA remains adamant, and the ongoing agitation of government college teachers have entered day 7 with sit-in-protest in most of the government colleges of the state," Kaikho Hopeson Mao, Education Secretary of ATSUM said.

Notably, the Manipur state cabinet had earlier approved the new UGC scale on August 6, 2020, but the same is yet to be implemented.
