Manipur Police step up vigil ahead of R-Day

IMPHAL:

Ahead of the Republic Day celebrations, security forces in Manipur have been deployed across the border areas to keep a check on anti-social elements.

The Commando Thoubal team deployed along the Khekman Amakcham Leikai area during a regular security check on January 22 intercepted a two-wheeler and recovered a vast quantity of contraband substances from a drug peddler.

The person identified as Md. Amar Khan (27) was reportedly engaged in the supply of drugs in the area.

99 bottles of Codeine Phosphate and Chlorpheniramine Maleate Syrup including a cash amount of Rs 1,50,000 was confiscated from the accused.

The seized items along with cash were handed over to Thoubal Police Station for further legal proceedings.
