Manipur Police arrested two executives of the Manipur Students’ Association Delhi (MSAD) from Delhi.

According to a press release issued by MSAD on Monday, the duo met two Manipur police personnel, to discuss a matter related to an MSAD press release on November 20, that opposed the Education Minister’s announcement of introducing the Sanskrit language in schools and colleges across Manipur.

Following the meeting, the Manipur police personnel arrested MSAD Secretary-General and advisor at Maurice Nagar Police Station, Patel Chest on Monday, demanding that other executives of MSAD surrender to them.

MSAD had already issued a press statement Ref.no MSAD/PR/27/2020/11/30 on November 30 regretting the use of expletives to the particular group i.e., the Brahmins.

“It is not against any religion or language but that their statement was for protecting the indigenous peoples of Manipur,” MSAD stated in a Facebook post.

The arrested leaders were produced before Patiala Court on Tuesday and will be transited to Manipur by December 10.

Meanwhile, MSAD has appealed to the concerned authority to consider the matter with good faith and resolve this issue amicably and to not further cause havoc to the executives of MSAD.
