Manipur journalists stage indefinite strike over attack on media house

Manipur journalists on Sunday staged an indefinite strike to protest against an attack on a media house in Imphal.

An unknown lady hurled a Chinese-made hand grenade at the office of Poknapham and its sister publication - People’s Chronicle in Imphal on Saturday evening. 

However, the bomb did not explode.

Members of All Manipur Working Journalist Union and Editor Guilds Manipur held a sit-in protest on Sunday at Imphal, condemning such "cowardice" attack. 

State Information and Public Relations Minister, Manipur’s Rajya Sabha MP and others have condemned the "terrorist" act. 

Indian Journalist Union also condemned the incident and demanded the State government to take action against the culprits.

The police have registered a case on the matter.
