Manipur: Fire in Imphal West causes massive property damage

The house of (L) Ningthoukhongjam Radhakanta, elder brother of the editor of the Manipur Mail along with a tent house store belonging to N. Sanatomba and the Manipur Mail office at Uripok Ningthoukhongjam Leikai, were gutted by a raging fire on Tuesday, November 24.

Six fire tenders from Imphal West Fire Service rushed to the spot and fought the blazing inferno for nearly three hours.

The Joint Director of the Manipur Fire Service, L. Nabachandra Sharma, said that they averted a major disaster by preventing the fire from spreading to neighbouring houses.

According to reports, the total property damage has exceeded over Rs. 1 crore.

Meanwhile, the affected families expressed gratitude to the Manipur Fire Service personnel for their timely arrival.
