IMPHAL: Decorated cop Thounaojam Brinda, who is an additional Superindentent of Police, Manipur Police Service, has returned the Chief Minister’s Gallantry Medal on Friday after the Special Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (ND&PS) court acquitted Lhukhosei Zou in the drug haul case on Thursday.

In the letter written to Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, Brinda said, "With utter regard for the state Home department and the decision reached by the Hon’ble ND &PS Court, Lamphel, the former BJP ADC Chairman, Chandel, Lhukhosei Zou and six other individuals who have been implicated in regard to case FIR No. 43 (06) 2018 NAB-PS, where a huge amount of drugs were seized, have been acquitted of all charges."

She said that as the investigation and prosecution have been deemed "unsatisfactory" by the ND & PS court, she feels morally inclined that she has not conducted her duties as “per the wishes” of the Criminal Justice Delivery System of the land.

Th. Brinda was conferred the Chief Minister’s Police Medal for Gallantry in recognition of this particular case as part of the CM’s initiative on “War against Drugs” on Patriot’s Day, 13th August 2018.
