IMPHAL:

The Manipur Congress on Thursday said that Governor Najma Heptulla’s address during the 12th session of the 11th Manipur Legislative Assembly, which highlighted the state government’s achievements and policies, failed to pin-point the lapses of governance in the state.

Taking a dig at the Governor’s address, Congress MLA and Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) President Govindas Konthoujam stated that Najma missed the key aspects of policy measures taken by the government after the pandemic.

He also said that the speech lacked the vision of job creation policies and infrastructure development.

Another Congress MLA K. Ranjit Singh said that the speech laid little emphasis on the economic and educational front and accused the government of bribery charges.

Congress MLA, K. Meghachandra also criticised the address by terming it "obsolete and redundant".

“The address required amendment and many important topics that were supposed to be discussed were missed today (February 3),” Meghachandra said.

“There was no mention on the lapses in agricultural development and issues of deforestation,” he said.

He also alleged that the government was not transparent about the finances and spending across different sectors.

The 12th session of the assembly that started on Wednesday will continue till February 22.
