IMPHAL:

Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh launched the ‘Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain’ campaign in Imphal on Monday.

The Chief Minister, including Water Resources Minister Letpao Haokip and other high-ranking officials of the Manipur Government, watched the live streaming of the nation-wide launch of the campaign by Prime Minister Narendra Modi through video conferencing at the Cabinet Hall.

Singh told the officials to form a joint committee of the Water Resources Department, PHED and Minor Irrigation to successfully implement the campaign that would continue from March 22 to November 30.

The campaign aims to reduce the problem of water scarcity in the next dry season.

“Bring the local self-government into confidence so that Prime Minister’s instructions are translated into action at maximum level and make the campaign a success,” Singh said.

Meanwhile, Singh also released a booklet, Jal Shakti Abhiyan, published by the Directorate of Information and Public Relations.
