Manipur CM hands over Rs 10 lakh to Paoyi villagers for destroying poppy plantations

IMPHAL:

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh handed over a cash reward of Rs 10 lakh to Peh (Paoyi) village as a token of appreciation for the commendable job done by the villagers in destroying poppy plantations in Ukhrul district.

Singh lauded the efforts of the villagers in their resolve to destroy the illicit crop and handed over the reward at the CM’s secretariat.

Addressing the villagers, Singh said the state government is doing everything to curb drug abuse and trafficking in the region.

He also highlighted the various projects that would soon be implemented in the area, including a market shed and a health centre.

Besides this, Singh assured the villagers of additional help and support for alternative cropping.
