Manipur bagged the India Today’s State of the States Award for the most improved state following which the government held a function under the theme ‘Emergent Manipur’ on December 4.

Chief Minister N. Biren Singh said, “The recognition is because of the collective effort and teamwork of everyone working under the Government of Manipur.”

“Some highlights include the establishment of a Covid hospital and a cancer hospital inside the campus of JNIMS in Imphal East soon. The cancer centre is to be made in association with Tata Trusts,” he added.

Meanwhile, he also opened a Mental Health Support helpline sponsored by the state government wherein people who are mentally disturbed because of COVID-19 or otherwise can get counselling by dialling 104.

Singh also lauded the 43 Indian Super League (ISL) footballers from the state at the ongoing ISL.

“Ngangom Bala Devi, who is currently playing for Scottish WFC Rangers, will be promoted to an inspector from her current post as constable for her feat as the only woman footballer to join an internationally acclaimed club from India,” he added.
