Manipur: ATSUM representatives hold review meeting with district officials at Tamenglong

In pursuance of ‘ATSUM Charter of Demand’ on various issues confronting the people of Manipur, the All Tribal Students’ Union Manipur (ATSUM ) visited Tamenglong district on December 1, and held a meeting with district officials.

Deputy Commissioner Armstrong Pame, IAS led the district administration and was attended by District Level Officers (DLOs) of various departments including the Medical Superintendent and Chief Medical Officer of the district.

All Tribal Students’ Union, Manipur stressed on the various issues such as education system, health facilities, functioning of ADC and other major aspects concerning the tribal populace of the district.

In view of the global pandemic, the ATSUM appealed to the state government to undertake citizen-centric initiative related to health care system and provide adequate medical facilities.

The ATSUM representatives also inspected Tamenglong College and held a brief interaction with the administrative staff.

Seiboi Haokip, President of ATSUM said, “The state government needs to redress the various grievances faced by the college in relation to infrastructure and inadequate teaching and non-teaching staff. The college is functioning without a clerk, and the present teaching staff strength does not even reach the sanctioned number of posts.”

All Tribal Students’ Union extended their gratitude to the Deputy Commissioner, Tamenglong district for his warm welcome and concern for the development of the district.
