Manipur Assembly by-polls updates - Voter turnout at 92.54 per cent

A tussle broke out between two groups while polling was underway at Lilong Assembly constituency in Manipur on Nov 7.

The tussle was between workers of two independent candidates -- Abdul Nasir and Antas Khan vying for Lilong seat

The matter was later settled and polling continued peacefully: Officials

The polling percentage at Lilong was recorded at 93.3, Saitu at 91.59 per cent, Wangjing Tentha at 92.3 per cent and 93.26 per cent was recorded at Wangoi. The total voter turnout is 92.54 per cent. 

Till 5 pm, the polling percentage at Lilong was recorded at 92.94, Saitu at 83.44 per cent, Wangjing Tentha at 89.69 per cent and 87.31 per cent was recorded at Wangoi.

The Kuki Revolutionary Army (KRA) has been alleged of threatening voters to vote for BJP. A video that has gone viral shows a woman from Leimakhong crying as she wasn't unable to vote as per her choice.

Till 3 pm, the polling percentage at Lilong was recorded at 82.64 per cent, Saitu at 79.66, Wangjing Tentha at 72.37 per cent and Wangoi at 68.42 per cent.

Till 1 pm, the polling percentage at Lilong was recorded at 64.46 per cent, Saitu at 60.39 per cent, Wangjing Tentha at 55.22 per cent and 53.29 per cent at Wangoi.

Till 11 am, the polling percentage at Lilong is 37.98 per cent, 38.16 per cent at Saitu, 34.96 per cent at Wangjing Tentha and 26.10 per cent was recorded at Wangoi

Till 9 am, the polling percentage at Lilong is 21.03 per cent, 19.80 percent at Saitu, 19.46 per cent at Wangjing Tentha and 15.65 per cent recorded at Wangoi.

Over 1,35,212 electorates including 1,777 serviced voters are expected to cast their votes in the Manipur by-polls. 

Eleven (11) candidates from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Indian National Congress (INC) and National People’s Party (NPP) are in the fray, including three independent candidates.

Polling to the four assembly constituencies in Manipur, namely Wangoi in Imphal West, Lilong and Wangjing Tentha in Thoubal district, and Saitu (ST) in Kangpokpi begins at 7 am.
