Manipur: Assam Rifles organises Jan Andolan programme on COVID-19

As part of the national Jan Andolan programme, the Assam Rifles organised a mega COVID-19 awareness Motorcycle Rally at Moreh on Monday.

According to a press release by the Inspector General of Assam Rifles, the motorcycle rally was flagged off jointly by M Rajkumar Singh ( IAS), DC Tengnoupal and Commandant Assam Rifles at Moreh.

Over 140 motorcycles rallied carrying placards by raising slogans, to create awareness on the preventive measures on COVID-19, by wearing masks, maintaining physical distance and hand sanitation.

They were also accompanied, by a vehicle-mounted band of Assam Rifles which played awareness songs.

Meanwhile, a newly constructed Vocational Training Centre (VTC) at Chikkim Village, Moreh, which was built by the Assam Rifles under the Border Area Development Programme (BADP), was jointly inaugurated and handed over to the village authorities by M. Raj Kumar Singh (IAS), DC Tengnoupal and Assam Rifles authorities.

In yet another assembly, the Assam Rifles conducted an online Poem Recitation Competition-cum-Awareness Drive on COVID-19 at Ngarumphung village of Senapati district.

The online Poem Recitation Competition cum Awareness Drive was held to spread awareness regarding the precautionary and curative measures to safeguard against the growth of COVID-19 threat.

Over 35 children of the village enthusiastically participated.

Prizes and gifts were distributed to the children while the troops distributed pamphlets, masks and hand-sanitizer to the locals during the event.
