Manipur: Assam Rifles holds COVID-19 awareness drive at Chandel district

IMPHAL:

The Assam Rifles organised a COVID awareness drive in the border areas of Khongtal and Hengshi, Chandel district on November 9 as part of the Jan Andolan program.

The drive was conducted to spread awareness about the preventive measures to effectively combat COVID-19 in the frontier locations.

The Assam Rifles team visited the border villages, educating the locals on the aspects of wearing face masks, maintaining physical distancing and personal hygiene.

Living up to the old age glory of ‘Friends of Northeast People’, the Assam Rifles continued their engagements with the community for the locals of Khullen village of Chandel District by controlling the spread of a forest fire which broke out in the border village of Khullen in Chandel district.

Based on an urgent call for help by the village chief, Linkhankhup, the nearest Assam Rifles quick reaction team rushed to the village to control the spread of the fire.

Subsequently, the Assam Rifles team doused out the fire. Village chiefs and locals have appreciated their efforts and expressed gratitude for extending timely help and controlling the dire situation.
