Manipur: ANSAM issues directive to private schools in Naga areas to collect fees

The All Naga Student’s Association Manipur (ANSAM), on Thursday, directed all private schools in Naga inhabited areas of Manipur to collect school fees from students and to pay a certain percentage of the fees to the teachers.

“In the wake of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, schools and its stakeholders have been adversely affected, and the association is deeply concerned for the continuation of the teaching-learning activities during pandemic and post-pandemic,” the directive stated.

ANSAM directed the school authorities to collect 50 per cent of the total fees from student up to class 10 and to pay a minimum of 50 per cent salary to the teachers with effect from April 2020 till the end of the current academic year.

The directive was issued by ANSAM education secretary Ruwnglar Elly, who further stated that schools and stakeholders could decide on the agreeable amount of fees among themselves without exceeding the fixed ceiling of 50 per cent.

“It is mandatory to follow the directive by all private schools in the Naga areas of Manipur,” Elly said.
