The troops of Assam Rifles turned saviours for the victims of a road accident in the remote New Tusom village along Indo-Myanmar border, on November 14.

A Mahindra Bolero met with an accident on November 13 at 11 am, leaving eight passengers injured, with three of them suffering grave injuries on their head.

The vehicle, carrying passengers, was plying in between Challou and New Tusom villages and toppled over because of brake failure.

A medical team of Assam Rifles rushed to the spot and rendered emergency medical aid to the injured. Thereafter the critical patients were shifted to District Hospital, Ukhrul for further treatment.

On another occasion, the Assam Rifles celebrated Children’s Day at Yaripok on the 131st birth anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.

Attended by over 25 children, the event began with a motivational speech on the importance of children, followed up by a small cultural programme, and on the various measures to contain the spread of COVID-19.

They also distributed stationary items, masks and sanitisers.
