Former Manipur minister hurt in accident, wife succumbs to injuries

Former Minister and Vice President of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee, Moirangthem Hemanta Singh escaped with minor injuries while his wife, Dr Pratita Moirangthem succumbed to injuries after the couple met with an accident on Sunday.

According to reports, the SUV Bolero driven by the former minister collided with another car at Kakching district, Manipur along NH-102.

Dr Pratita Moirangthem, who teaches at RIMS Imphal, died on the spot. Former minister Moirangthem Hemanta Singh received first aid at a private clinic in Kakching before being referred to a hospital in Imphal.

Moirangthem Hemanta had contested in the recently concluded Manipur by-polls where he came second after being defeated by Paonam Brojen at the Wangjing Tentha constituency.
