The Democratic Students’ Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) on Monday accused the selection committee of the DM College of Teacher Education (DMCTE) for allegedly flouting admission norms.

The DMCTE has come up with a list of M.Ed students eligible for admission without conducting entrance tests contrary to the admission guidelines issued by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), DESAM secretary Longjam Robin said in a release.

The state-level common entrance test should have been conducted under Appendix 2, 4, and 5 of the NCTE Rules and Regulations and DMCTE has violated it, he said.

DESAM urged that an entrance exam for the said course should be conducted from next year and demanded a written assurance from the state government.

It further said that the Department of Higher Education should look into the matter.

The student body had reported to the Eastern Regional Committee (ERC) of NCTE and the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) for flouting of the admission rules. The CVC has sought more information on the matter.
