Contraband items worth ₹ 8.45 lakh rupees seized in Manipur

The Chandel Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) recovered a vast quantity of imported illegal Chinese WIN cigarettes and Betel nuts on Friday.

On receiving specific inputs pertaining to a cache of contraband items, troops of Assam Rifles launched an operation in Songyang village in Chandel district.

The troops carried out extensive search in the jungles near New Songyang village and recovered 5,000 packets of imported Chinese WIN cigarettes and 400 kgs of Indonesian Betel nut hidden inside thick vegetation.

The seized items are said to be worth ₹ 8.45 lakhs. The recovered items have been handed over to the custom office in Pallel for further legal action.
