Congress demands disqualification of 12 MLAs in Manipur

A team of congressmen lead by the former Chief Minister of Manipur, O. Ibobi Singh met the Governor of Manipur, Najma Heptullah, on Friday urging to disqualify the 12 MLAs who were given the post of parliamentary secretaries which have been declared by the Manipur High court as “unconstitutional”.

Ibobi Singh also added that the twelve parliamentary secretaries were provided office vehicles, salaries from the GAD (General Administration Department) which is an office of profit. 

Briefing media persons at the Congress Bhawan in Imphal, the former Chief Minister of Manipur said, “We have submitted a memorandum to urge the governor to disqualify the 12 MLAs and to show that there is a law in the land,”

The ex-CM Ibobi Singh was accompanied by Gaikhangam, Member of Congress Working Committee, K. Govindas, MLA, K. Ranjit, MLA, DD Thaisii, MLA among others.
