AMSU bans six schools for collecting fees in Manipur

Six schools in different parts of Manipur witnessed the wrath of the All Manipur Student’s Union (AMSU) after they found that the schools were collecting fees from the students.

The six schools which came under the radar were MECI Explorer School at Changangei, Paree Imom Singdamshang at Langjing, Tiny Tots English School at Dewlahland, Bright Foundation School at Thoubal Khetri leikai Tomjing, St Xavier School at Moirang and MEM school at Ghari have been temporarily banned for acting against the interest of the public.

AMSU further warned that it will continue to ban schools that collect fees as it had asked not to collect fees from the guardians and parents of the students as all sections have been hard hit by the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to an October 5 order, the Government of Manipur asked all private schools to collect 30 per cent of the payable fees from the students and also pay 50 per cent of the total payable salary to the teachers.

Since then, AMSU have been demanding to revoke the order that asked the private schools to collect fees from the students from April till date.
