70 acres of illegal poppy plantations destroyed in Manipur

IMPHAL:

In continuation with the order to destroy all poppy (opium) plantations across Manipur, security forces launched a massive drive and destroyed about 70 acres of the illegal plantations on Friday.

The team comprised personnel from the Narcotics and Affairs Border (NAB) Imphal East District, Saikul Police Station (PS), Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Home Guards, District Administrative Guards, 15 Assam Rifles, Imphal Police and the Horticulture and Forest Department.

The drive to destroy the illicit substance was carried along the Maharani hill range under Sagolmand Police Station (PS) jurisdiction.

The state government has so far destroyed about 1,420 acres of illegal poppy plantations during the 2020-21 season.
