Manipur University impasse | FIR lodged against pro VC Yugindro

• Yugindro had previously filed an FIR against teachers and students claiming that he was manhandled under charges of attempt to murder, kidnapping and wrongful confinement.
• Research scholar Yanglem Loijingkhomba Khuman has stated that the FIR against him was baseless.

A police complaint requesting for an immediate FIR against the vice-chancellor in-charge of Manipur University, professor, K. Yugindro under section 182 and 211 of IPC for 'misusing public authority by providing false information' was on Wednesday lodged by research scholar, department of computer science, Manipur University, Yanglem Loijingkhomba Khuman.

In a complaint submitted to Singjamei Police Station, Loijongkhomba stated that Yugindro had falsely filed an FIR against him by giving factually incorrect information to the police that the professor has been manhandled, with the attempt to murder, kidnapping and wrongful confinement on October 20 at Singjamei Police Station.

In the complaint, Loijingkhomba further stated that on that day, he was on examination duty for  students of Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Application from 11 am to 2 pm at MIMS building which is located more than 700 metres away from A-Block where the incident was claimed to have occurred by professor, K. Yugindro. He further stated that he was not at all present at A-Block from 11 am to 2 pm while the incident was claimed to have occurred at 1.30 pm at A-Block by professor, K. Yugindro.

"It is absolutely contradicting and falsely implicating me as attempt murder, kidnapping and wrongful confinement in his FIR," it added.

The complaint added that he has been extremely shocked to learn all the charges against him which are baseless and irrelevant.
