Manipur: Surrendered militants shot dead in ‘safe house’

IMPHAL: Targeting top leadership of surrendered cadres is not a new thing when the target seems to be the bone of contention for either the political class or the previous group he/she is affliated.

A top cadre and his aide who had surrendered in 2014 were found dead in a highly secured compound of the 7th Manipur Rifles complex in Manipur.

According to police sources, former Chairman of banned militant group PREPAK- VC Ningombam Nabachandra alias Nongdrenkhomba and Leisangthem Sanjit Singh alias Chingkhei were shot dead inside the safe house in Khabeisoi near state capital Imphal at around 8.30 pm.

Police sources believed that they might have been gunned down in their 'safe house' inside the security forces compound.

A probe has been ordered by the state home department into the killings.
