Manipur: Bomb found in newspaper office

IMPHAL: A bomb was found planted in the office of 'Pandam Daily' newspaper here.

The bomb was safely defused and removed from the office by bomb squad personnel of Manipur Police, sources said.

A letter was also found near the bomb which read " New Year gift to Editors", sources informed.

The Editors Guild Manipur (EGM) had strongly condemned the planting of a bomb and also raised their voice against the increasing threat to the Editors of various media house in Manipur by the armed rebellions.

EGM had also resolved to carry a common condemnation sentence in the editorial space of all the newspapers here as well as cease the print on December 27.

A sit-in-protest by mediapersons from various organisations will also be held tomorrow from 1000 to 1600 hrs at Keishampat.
