Lok Sabha elections 2019 Assam phase 3: 62.13% voters turnout recorded till 3 pm

GUWAHATI | April 23, 2019:

In Assam, voting for the third phase of polling for the four Lok Sabha constituencies began at 7 a.m. on Tuesday.

Polls are being held across 9,577 polling centres in the Guwahati, Kokrajhar, Barpeta and Dhubri constituencies.

A total of 74,77,062 eligible voters including 36,61,570 females and 157 third gender voters are expected to seal the fate of 54 candidates

Seventeen candidates are in the fray for Guwahati, 15 for Dhubri, 13 for Barpeta and nine for Kokrajhar.

In Assam, 10 Lok Sabha constituencies have already gone to the polls — five each in the first and second phase of polling held on April 11 and April 18.

It is to be mentioned that as many as 115 Lok Sabha constituencies will go to polls on Tuesday, 23 April, across 14 states and union territories in phase III of the 2019 general election.

Gauhati constituency which has the largest electorate among the 14 constituencies will have the maximum deployment of personnel.

Former Prime minister Manmohan Singh will be in the city along with his wife Gursharan Kaur to cast their votes at the Dispur Government Higher Secondary School polling station.
