Justice Uma Nath Singh new Chief Justice of Meghalaya HC
SHILLONG: Justice Uma Nath Singh was on Thursday sworn in as the new Chief Justice of Meghalaya High Court by Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi.
The Governor administered the oath of office and secrecy to Justice SIngh at a ceremony held in the Raj Bhavan.
Justice Singh, succeeded Justice P C Pant, whose term ended months ago. Since his retirement, Justice Singh was officiating as the acting chief justice.
After the ceremony, Chief Minister briefed the new Chief Justice on the recent development and on the deficit budget presented in the state assembly yesterday.
The ceremony was attended by Meghalaya Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma, Chairperson of Meghalaya Resource Mobilisation & Employment Generation Council, Dikkanchi Shira, Judge SR Sen, Judge TNK Singh of Meghalaya High Court and other dignitaries.
The Ceremony was later followed by a Salaami which was held at the premises of the Meghalaya High court, Shillong.
